Product details
Omega Constellation Pie Pan Ref. 14900-61 SC | Cal. 551 | Dog-Leg Case
Description
This 1960s Omega Constellation Ref. 14900-61 SC is peak mid-century Omega. Sharp dog-leg lugs, a proper pie-pan dial, and one of Omega’s most respected automatic movements. Nothing flashy, nothing forced. Just execution.
The gold-capped case measures 34 mm and wears beautifully thanks to the aggressive dog-leg geometry. It gives the watch presence without bulk, exactly how these were meant to sit on the wrist. The screw-back case carries the Constellation observatory medallion with all eight stars intact, a detail collectors always check first.
The dial is original and sunburst finished, with natural patina that has developed evenly over time. Raised onyx baton hour markers add depth and contrast, paired with classic dauphine hands and a sweeping central seconds. This is a dial that has aged honestly, not one that’s been cleaned into characterlessness.
Inside is the automatic Calibre 551, a 24-jewel chronometer-grade movement known for durability and excellent timekeeping. It’s one of the movements that built the Constellation’s reputation.
The watch is fitted with an aftermarket strap and buckle, a practical replacement that keeps attention on the case and dial, where the real value lies.

Historical Significance
The Ref. 14900 sits among the most desirable vintage Constellations. Introduced in the early 1960s, it combined chronometer-grade movements with bold case architecture and refined dial work. The pie-pan dial and dog-leg lugs became visual signatures of the line, while the Calibre 551 helped cement Omega’s dominance in precision watchmaking. Original-dial examples with honest patina, like this one, are increasingly favored by collectors over over-restored pieces.
